Project Overview

The goal of this project was to design a comprehensive platform that improves the shipping experience for users, riders, and admins. For users, the focus was on simplifying the order and tracking process, providing real-time updates and notifications. For riders, the app optimizes route planning and communication, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries. For admins, the platform streamlines operations by offering tools to manage shipments, monitor riders, and handle user requests seamlessly. This solution enhances the overall shipping experience by addressing the specific needs of each user group.

Problem Statement

In the goods transportation process, users struggle with placing orders, transporting items, and tracking shipments. Delays and communication lapses make it harder to follow deliveries. Real-time tracking and notifications are needed to streamline the experience.

Riders face challenges with unclear routes and poor communication with users and admins. Optimized route planning and better communication are essential for smoother deliveries.

Admins find it difficult to manage multiple tasks, like tracking goods and coordinating riders, due to complex systems. A simplified platform would help them manage operations more efficiently and improve service delivery.

Target Audience

The target audience for users includes individual consumers, business owners, and corporate clients who need a reliable solution for shipping parcels, such as gifts, products, or documents.

Riders are individuals who are comfortable working full-time or part-time, using their own vehicles for deliveries, offering them flexibility and earning potential.

Admins are logistics professionals who manage day-to-day operations, including assigning riders, processing orders, and resolving user issues to ensure smooth service.

Roles & Responsibilities

In this project, I began by conducting user research to understand the needs and pain points of the target audience. I also performed a competitive analysis to identify trends and best practices in the logistics and transportation space. Using this information, I focused on designing an intuitive interface that makes it easy for users to navigate the platform. I ensured the visual design was clear, consistent, and aligned with the brand, creating a seamless experience for users, riders, and admins alike.

Competitive Analysis

I conducted a competitive analysis for both the user and rider apps, reviewing similar platforms to identify key features, strengths, and areas for improvement. This helped inform design decisions for enhancing user experience and streamlining the rider’s workflow.

Constraints

In the process of designing a logistics platform for users, riders, and admins, several key challenges and constraints needed to be addressed to ensure smooth and reliable operations. These constraints impact the user experience, delivery efficiency, and overall satisfaction across all stakeholders involved. Below are the specific challenges faced by each user group:

For Users:

  • Traffic Congestion & Route Issues: This could be a hindrance and cause delayed delivery for the user. This may lead to frustration due to the extended wait period. When users/customers are dissatisfied, they tend to lose trust in the product.
  • Communication: If a user tries to contact the rider or customer service to inquire about a delay in their product delivery and is unable to get through, it could cause frustration and reduce reliability.
  • Unreliable Arrival Time: If a user cannot rely on the standard delivery time for their parcels due to lack of communication, this could result in a loss of customers to competitors offering more reliable delivery services. For business owners, when users cannot rely on the service, they lose trust in the product.

For Riders:

  • Safety: A rider's safety while delivering parcels could be a constraint, especially if they work in high-risk areas or during late hours, increasing the likelihood of accidents or theft.
  • Communication: Ensuring that riders always have effective communication is a key constraint, as lack of contact can delay deliveries and cause confusion between riders, users, and the admin.
  • Efficiency: If a rider is paid based on the number of deliveries made, traffic or long routes can reduce the number of deliveries. This could lead to riders declining requests for deliveries with similar routes.
  • Navigation Challenges: Unclear addresses can complicate the job for riders. This may lead to job dissatisfaction and an increase in the number of declined requests in areas with unclear addresses.

For Admin:

  • Communication: When the admin struggles to coordinate with users or riders, such as failing to respond to user complaints promptly, it can lead to a breakdown in trust, causing users and riders to become dissatisfied with the service.
  • System Overload: Handling large volumes of orders and complaints at once can overwhelm the admin system, causing delays in responses and task processing.
  • Data Accuracy: Inaccurate or missing data can hinder the admin’s ability to make informed decisions, leading to operational inefficiencies or errors in tracking deliveries.
  • User Expectations: Managing user expectations can be challenging when service delays or issues arise, especially if users expect real-time updates or fast resolutions.

For Users:

Onboarding Screens

These screens capture essential information and highlight unique features for users, helping them get acquainted with the app.

Home Page

This screen serves as the main interface for users after logging in, offering quick access to key features such as sending parcels, tracking orders, scheduling deliveries, cancelling orders, and managing account settings. It also includes a convenient search function for tracking IDs, allowing users to easily view the status of their goods.

Send Parcel Page & Track Order Page

The Send Parcel page allows users to initiate the shipping process by entering sender and recipient details, parcel dimensions, and other delivery preferences. On the Track Order page, users can monitor the real-time status of their shipments, including shipment progress, estimated delivery times, and the route the rider is taking for delivery.

My Orders Page, Order History Page & Notification Page

The My Orders screen displays a list of ongoing orders with real-time tracking until delivery is completed. The Order History screen shows a record of completed and pending orders, allowing users to view detailed information such as order ID, status, and sender/receiver details. The Notification screen provides alerts and updates related to order progress, as well as important account notifications.
